World of Warcraft realm splits

Blizzard is fully aware that there will be a wave of resubscriptions flooding the servers soon. Cap'n John alerted me that they are working on a way out: server splits, currently being beta tested. Unlike other games, where you had to give a /move command to move to the split server, World of Warcraft will present you with a choice on the character selection screen. If you don't chose, you will be moved to the same server as your guild leader (nifty!), or if you don't have a guild, you'll be moved in a way to even out the population. You could also end up on the server you didn't chose if too many people opt for one of them.

That will cause a lot of anguish, but I'm afraid it might be necessary for the older servers. The important thing is to arrange choices with your friends and guild mates, to avoid splitting away from your friends. But accidents always happen in these cases, which can be very annoying.
